Gradall's New XL 3200 Hydraulic Excavator Combines Excellent Versatility with Rugged, Stable Undercarriage

NEW PHILADELPHIA, Ohio — The Gradall Company's new XL 3200 excavator is the world's first 34,500-pound machine offering an exclusive combination of advantages delivering job-proven Gradall versatility and performance along with a stable, rough-terrain crawler undercarriage.

The XL 3200 boom actually imitates the movements of the human arm and wrist, able to swing from side to side, reach up for loading and unloading as well as dig straight down. The 220ƒ boom rotation allows the machine to handle delicate grading work quickly and easily, while the telescoping action, rather than conventional knuckle boom movements, maintains full power throughout the entire digging cycle. The telescoping boom action also requires no extra overhead room, making the XL 3200 ideal for work under bridges, trees and in tunnels.

Equipped with Gradall¼s advanced XL Series high-pressure, load-sensing hydraulics, the XL 3200 has exceptional strength and fast cycle times. Without the need for "mode" selection, the sophisticated hydraulics system automatically adjusts for the job at hand, eliminating the need for operator guesswork and conserving on fuel. Automatically, the system supplies the correct measure of power for mass excavation and pavement removal as well as sloping or even cleanup and vegetation control.

The XL 3200 is also easy to operate with simple joystick controls built into the armrests of the roomy and comfortable seating module. Fully adjustable, the specially designed seating system increases operator comfort while reducing fatigue. Using conveniently placed foot pedals and the armrest joystick design, learning to position the machine and control delicate room movements is simplified and encourages instant productivity.

Because of the telescoping boom movements, the operator can easily see the entire length of the boom during the full digging cycle. Jobsite visibility also is excellent thanks to the clear-span window design and the newly redesigned, low machine profile providing a better view to the rear of the machine. Operators also will appreciate the overhead skylight, removable front window, operational air conditioning and a range of other options. In addition, the XL 3200 features the new Gradall excavator color scheme ‚ gray with red accents and decals ‚ now standard for the entire collection of XL 3000 Series machines.

The standard Deere 4045 engine develops 114 horsepower @ 2200 rpm. Maximum digging depth for the XL 3200 is 20 feet, 2 inches, while boom radius at groundline is 27 feet, 7 inches. The rated boom force of 20,150 lbs., combined with the 220ƒ room rotation, maximizes productivity with a wide range of attachments including trenching, excavating, ditching, pavement removal and dredging buckets, or a selection of grading blades, rippers, boom extensions, air or hydraulic hammers, augers, grapples and more.

With minimal maintenance requirements, most common XL 3200 service points can be reached at ground level. To help assure maximum life and productivity, a network of authorized distributors supports all Gradall excavators, supplying service advice and parts, which meet Gradall engineering specifications.
