NEW PHILADELPHIA, Ohio — Gradall® has introduced a new 6-foot Live Boom extension attachment for its XL 4000 Series II excavators, enhancing the legendary Gradall boom versatility with the added ability to reach over obstacles and then down 6 feet. Equipped with a 60-inch ditching bucket, the Live Boom attachment's break-under motion enables the Gradall boom to reach over railings, barriers and utilities; excavate side walls; and reach into trucks and rail cars for smooth loading and unloading. Utilizing the XL 4000 Series II models' 220 degree boom tilt, the 6-foot Live Boom also provides unique bucket access to hard-to-reach locations.
Unlike conventional excavator booms that require considerable overhead clearance, the Gradall telescoping boom, equipped with a Live Boom, provides the benefits of break-under working motion on low-overhead jobs. With a low working profile, and while providing the operator with a full view of the entire length of the telescoping boom, Gradall excavators deliver an unobstructed measure of productivity by excavating, ripping up pavement or grading beneath bridges, roofs and tree limbs.
A Live Boom attachment can be retrofitted to any Gradall XL 4000 Series II excavator using standard quick-connect hydraulics and its quick change bucket adaptor. XL 4000 Series II models are available with the industry's widest choice of undercarriages: a highway speed wheeled undercarriage, a wheeled undercarriage designed for mobility on and off paved surfaces, and a rugged crawler.
