NEW PHILADELPHIA, OH A new on/off pavement XL 3300 III excavator by Gradall Industries Inc. offers new features to build efficiency as well as performance on a wide range of jobs.
One of five Gradall® Series III machines currently being introduced, the XL 3300 III weighs about 39,000 pounds but offers a giant measure of productivity and versatility potential. Its four-wheel-drive, rubber-tire undercarriage moves easily in dirt and mud, while also offering exceptional mobility on pavement. Even without the use of optional outriggers, the XL 3300 III has stability comparable to a conventional crawler while working at either end or either side, but the rubber tires will not damage pavement.
A new Detroit Diesel Mercedes engine powers the chassis as well as the versatile Gradall telescoping, tilting boom. The new speed produces greater simultaneous speed in delivering excellent boom forces and bucket breakout forces.
The versatile telescoping, tilting Gradall boom movements are commanded using new electronic joystick controls built into the comfortable seating module. A new cab switch also determines the joystick control configuration – Gradall, SAE or Deere – enabling new or veteran operators to select a comfortable pattern. Other Series III cab features include new gauges to monitor hydraulic circuit pressures and standard air conditioning as well as fresh air ventilation.
The XL 3300 III has a compact profile with a new rear counterweight design, resulting in a rear swing of just 7 feet, 6 inches, enabling the excavator to work in traffic lanes without closing the road. Digging depth is 18 feet, 5 inches while the boom reach at groundline is 27 feet, 3 inches.
Among the advantages to fleet managers is commonality in almost all attachments including excavating, trenching, ditching, dredging and pavement removal buckets. The XL 3300 III can also be equipped with a grading blade, tree limb shear, live boom, fixed thumb grapple and boom extensions including the Telestick.
The entire telescoping boom tilts attachments 220 degrees to the proper position without losing power – a big advantage over boom-end tilt attachments sold separately for conventional knuckle booms. The telescoping boom also delivers constant forces through the entire dig cycle, enabling the Gradall XL 3300 III to efficiently handle high productivity excavation and demolition as well as landscaping and grading.
The XL 3300 III, also unlike conventional excavators, can work in tunnels and under bridges where there's little headroom. To further help avoid contact with obstructions, operators can monitor the Gradall boom position through the entire digging cycle.
Exceptionally stable, and equipped with front axle oscillation locks, the XL 3300 III can perform demanding work from many different positions. For extra mobility control, the operator can change between standard and creeper travel mode. Axles are equipped with internal wet-disc type service and parking brakes.
All Series III excavators have almost 70 percent parts commonality, simplifying the task of maintaining parts inventories for common service functions. Series III machines have longer routine service intervals, and most service locations can be reached from ground level.
